Rail Audit in Poland and Czech Republic

HeidelbergCement AG (HC) is a global leader in the area of aggregates, cement and concrete. Currently 68.000 people are employed at 2.800 locations in approximately 50 countries by HeidelbergCement group. By means of acquiring the British construction materials producer Hanson, Heidelberg Cement ensured to further maintain its leading position as construction materials manufacturer. In order to retain this position also in the future, HC created internal organizational structures which ensure cost efficiency. An important asset in this respect is the central logistics organization.

 

Saving Potential in Logistics

HeidelbergCement initiated an European project in order to identify potential improvements and savings within the logistics. In this connection TransCare was ordered to analyze HeidelbergCement’s rail logistics in Poland and Czech Republic.

 

Development of a Rail Concept

TransCare screened all rail transports as well as the loading and unloading processes in the respective production plants. TransCare developed rail concepts for both countries and calculated the resulting savings.
