40 years Deutsches Verkehrsforum and the combined transport

Combined transport (CT) is not only indispensable in terms of environmental policy, but is now also necessary from a business perspective. However, the challenges for its implementation are great. The Deutsches Verkehrsforum (DVF) has been supporting and promoting CT for 40 years. As an interest group, network, platform and initiator, the DVF is a committed advocate for intermodal mobility and an indispensable partner in the important dialog with politics, business and science.

Günther Malkowsky, founding managing director of Kombiverkehr Deutsche Gesellschaft für kombinierten Güterverkehr mbH & Co KG, commented on the founding of the “Verkehrsforum Bahn”, as the forum was still called in 1984:

“Combined transport is an exotic concept today, an alternative tomorrow and another word for rail freight transport in the long term.”

TransCare has been a member of DVF for more than 30 years and is working to make this vision a reality.

In our article for the DVF Newsletter No. 1/March 2024, we present measures that could finally lead to a breakthrough for combined transport.
